An Adoption Made in Heaven

Has your child asked, “Why was I adopted?” When Kathleen Lockwood's son posed that very question, she knew the answer: “Because God wanted you to be exactly who you are, and he wanted us to be your parents.” This eloquent response explaining adoption as the perfection of God's plan is illustrated throughout her touching story.

Authors Purpose:

An Adoption Made In Heaven alters the adoption paradigm and tells the story that Amy is not given away but, instead, delivered to the parents that God wants her to have. It is an invaluable tool for parents seeking to explain the spiritual aspects of adoption. It demonstrates to children that nothing has gone wrong, but instead their adoption was God's plan going right.

Outline:

Amy Angel and Charlie Cherub are in the waiting-to-be-born heaven. They must learn the baby ways and earn their stars, so they can be born. Each time a new lesson is accomplished, TWIZZLE-TWINK! A shooting star lands on their halos. When Great Guardian Angel recites a chant, Amy Angel's future parents are revealed to her through the clouds. Amy immediately sees the Light of Love in their hearts and feels the tingle of her love for them begin to grow. Charlie's parents are revealed also. He sees the Light of Love and also the Glow of life, which is the baby part of himself waiting to be born. Amy is concerned that her mother does not have the Glow, but is comforted when the Great Guardian Angel reveals God's Special Friend with this chant:

“Show us the one With Love, so Dear, To be God's helper For Amy here.” The clouds part and Amy sees her birth mother, who will deliver her to her parents.

A Brief Backstory

You might be interested in a brief backstory about what motivated me to write this book.

One late September afternoon in 1995, my son walked through the front door, dropped his lunch bag on the foyer floor, and ran up to his room without his usual visit to the kitchen for a snack.

I followed him, wondering what happened in kindergarten that day. He wouldn’t eat; he was pouting. I asked him, “What was wrong? What happened in school today?”

I finally got my answer, “Jenny told me that you are not my real mommy,” he blurted out with a loud sob.

“Of course, I’m real,” I answered in shock. Seeds for the Amy Angel story were planted that afternoon and nurtured during our conversations over the next few months.

Our two daughters were born between multiple miscarriages. My son's birth mother walked into my husband’s law office looking for a loving family for her soon-to-be-born child.  Why these children?

Ultimately, I understood that a Divine Hand must be at play.

An Adoption Made in Heaven was written to let all children know that they are exactly where they belong, and home is where they are loved.

Reviews

“Adoption is very difficult to explain to an adopted child. Kathleen Lockwood has found a deeply moving way to do so in her book, An Adoption Made In Heaven: Amy Angel Goes Home… Parents will find this beautifully illustrated book a helpful way to explain the love that they, as adoptive parents, have for that young son or daughter.”

Michael McManus, New York Times Syndicated columnist, Ethics & Religion.

“I enjoyed Amy Angel very much and think your idea and execution of the concept of adoption being a pre-planned event to be both sound and compassionate…(It is) appropriate to deal with the abandonment issue for adopted children in such a sensitive way.”

Michael Newton, Ph.D Author Journey of Souls
